Since my last post was about Guess How Much ..I love you.....this seemed appropriate to follow.
This is a photo of my blue hutch I received...oh many many years ago.
I came home from teaching one day and as I entered the kitchen...here was this cute country blue hutch. I had always wanted a hutch and this one I surely would have picked out myself!
My wonderful husband...chose it! and had it delivered early that day as a surprise!
"WOW! ...WHAT??...for me?...but...but..
it's YOUR birthday today....not mine!!!
Oh, I LOVE it! and I LOVE YOU!!!"
My husband purchased this for me on HIS birthday to manifest an unselfish love that he wanted to express. He felt that by taking HIS day and making it mine it was just one of many ways to say he loved me.
I cherish this hutch...and when we moved to our present home there was not enough room in the dining area for it...so, I decided...it would look great in my guest/sewing room as a keepsake hutch! I decorated the room around the hutch to give it a shabby chic look. I made the shelf linings and added lace to drape down for a feminine touch. Many times I thought about painting it white..as I love white furniture...
but..I just couldn't bring myself to changing anything about this at all..it spoke of LOVE and each time I look at it, I recall that first glance as I walked into my kitchen many years ago. The surprise, the warmth in my heart and the unselfish act of my wonderful husband that day.
Once again...LOVE is manifest.
When I think of LOVE...as a Christian...
it is always...unselfish...or should be!
We live in a world of self gratification. Everything is to please self. So it takes a deliberate act to show love...to express it in a way that others know there was no ulterior motive for self.
When I received this hutch on my husband's birthday...the message said...
I'm giving up MY day for you!
Oh if people could only grasp the love of Christ! The ultimate unselfish love of our Saviour!
My heart is smitten whenever I recall the words of Jesus as he is put on the cross to die for our sins..
....Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. Luke 23:34a
He went to the cross with a heart ready to forgive! He knew they had no idea they were looking at the blessed SON of GOD! but one day they would..
as is found in Acts 2:37-38a Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins....
They heard the preaching of Jesus and realized WHO he was...
Oh the neglect of hearing and understanding.
Romans 19:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
I read something quite interesting in Gail Riplinger's book In Awe of Thy Word..
Preach...(means to reach each person with the word) notice (P)reach.
God has manifested His LOVE to us in his WORD and by the Preaching of faithful Pastors.
Unselfish LOVE...the ultimate is found in the LORD Jesus Christ.
This is the day...I rejoice in the love of my Saviour..shared in the acts of my Christian husband who unselfishly continues to love as Christ loved.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. Ephesians 5:25
The day I received my hutch...was just a day...my husband gave himself.
An unselfish...act of LOVE.

The story by Sam McBratney titled:
GUESS HOW MUCH..I LOVE YOU...
...is about Little Nutbrown (rabbit) trying to express his love to Big Nutbrown Hare. He strives and strives to outbeat Big Nutbrown Hare's expression of love which always exceeds Little Nutbrown. In the end Little Nutbrown thinks he has accomplished the far reaches of his love to the moon...and falls asleep. However, Big Nutbrown Hare..whispers.. "I love you right up to the moon.......and back."
I enjoyed so much reading to my grandchildren as they all plopped in my lap...all 4! Hardly any room! Two boys on the arms of the recliner and the girls on each lap..and me, peeking in between trying to read to them! It was so much fun. Cuddling and reading wonderful stories.
This one in particular we liked to exaggerate the parts...
I love YOU...this MUCH!
It was always such a joy these moments...I cherish..for many reasons and
This is the day...I rejoice in the remembrances of the times I shared the LORD with my grandchildren in illustrations like this.
What an opportunity to show the magnificent LOVE of our Saviour...
For GOD so LOVED the WORLD...
that he gave his only begotten SON... John 3:16
Sharing the most blessed love of God in his mercies and kindness. In giving us not only is dear Son as our Saviour..but giving us HIS BOOK..HIS WORD.
The best book of all to read! Oh the illustrations of LOVE found in this wondrous book of books!
Children are so precious and they know real love when it is given. Perhaps this is why Jesus was so protective of little children!
Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me; for such is the kingdom of heaven.
(definition: suffer also means to allow)
The humbleness of a little child....the sweetness of the pure heart of love.
Just as when I'd hear my grandchildren coming to the door as they'd visit. So excited with squeals running to greet me with hugs! Even though they knew they must behave at Nana's house!
They are a bit too big now to all fit on the chair...and they have moved a good distance away...so "story time" is few and far between now.
But, how I do rejoice in the time that I did spend with them in their younger years. I pray that seeds planted in sharing the Lord's love will be forever in their hearts and minds as they grow up. I pray that as a Grandmother...I had a Godly influence on their little lives and they know how very much I love them...
...I pray above all, they will always know...God's love can never be surpassed!!
I John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

This is the day....I rejoice in the compassion of others. Surely GOD has put within our hearts that need to reach out and care. People we may have never met...and this is what has blessed me this week.
I belong to an online Quilting Forum ... almost 3 years now. A secure forum that is by invitation. I have only met in person two of these ladies. All total some 50 or so I think. In the 3 years we have exchanged Quilting ideas..teaching one another...hints..techniques and even block swaps.
We make a block with a partner and she makes the same; we mail it to each other and surprised by the fabrics chosen. I have 12 from a previous block swap and can now make myself a "friendship" quilt. The blocks have their forum names and the places they live written on the fronts. Women from all walks of life...some young, some middle aged and some elderly... Quilting newbies...and experienced. Some in America and some abroad.
We have gotten to know each other in personal ways as well...grandchildren born..weddings..prayer request and even one of our dear sweet members died of Cancer last year. We felt so close to her...a friend.
And this past week...these dear ladies got together through correspondence and decided to help me make my son Charlie a quilt for his return home from Iraq. I had mentioned after making the mini (see post below) I'd like to make him a larger throw.
To my surprise...Patriotic Blocks started arriving in my mail box! First there were 3and I thought .." Oh how nice of these ladies"....then the next day 9 came and the next day 13!! My husband had come in from the mailbox with his arms full of packages. I was truly overwhelmed...and cried. The ANGEL block shown is one of many that show the time and heart put into making these. This particular block is paper pieced and very small pieces make up this 9 1/2 " block. She has also hand embroidered the eyes and crown.
Each had a card tucked inside with words of support for my son serving his country...and some from other countries wanting to express their support! Canada, Germany, Australia, United Kingdom... Words expressing their hopes of his safe return and one in particular said she named my son by name each day for God's care upon him.
Overall now I have 40 blocks.. of all different designs...stunning works of art and talent.
So now...I have a QUILT to make! I will be starting on it next week after purchasing some fabric for the sashings, cornerstones and backing. Sashing is what joins the other blocks. I plan to use black and gold...it will give it a Military Honor look...kind of like the men in their Dress Blues.
I thanked the LORD for bringing these ladies into my life..for their kind and compassionate hearts. People out there do care...People are supporting our Troops and here is the proof!
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17
